Daniel Aldana Schumann
Daniel has been birding since he can remember. As the son of a biologist (ornithologist) he grew up spending a lot of time in the field looking for birds with his father. He started birding seriously at the age of 14 and it has definitely become his greatest passion. He has conducted work bird monitoring research in different habitats all around his home country of Guatemala for a number of institutions including the American Bird Conservancy, the Cornell Lab of Ornithology and local conservation NGOs. He started guiding birders when he was 17 and by age 20 was guiding full-time in addition to organizing birding tours all over Central America. He is a member of the board of directors of the Guatemala Birding Association and conservation and is fluent in English and Spanish.
