Victoria Kovshar was until recently a Senior Researcher the Institute of Zoology of the Academy of Sciences at the Kazakhstan State University in Almaty. She has conducted research projects on many aspects of ornithology in Kazakstan. Victoria has travelled widely in her native country in search of birds and was for many years involved with the ringing project at the famous Chokpak ringing station, although these days she spends much of her time conducting environmental impact surveys and around the Caspian Sea. Victoria has a wide knowledge of Kazakhstan’s natural history besides birds, especially its plants.
